How to Connect to Remote Desktop using an iPhone or iPad
- Make sure your account is setup with Multifactor Authentication and Microsoft Authenticator. You can do this at: https://mfa.hilcorp.com/
When setting up the account be sure that you use “Microsoft Authenticator.” I had been using a different authenticator which worked for email but not or Remote Desktop.

- Download the Remote Desktop Mobile app from the Apple App Store. It may be listed as RD Client.

- Open Remote Desktop on your iPhone or iPAD.

You will probably not have any PCs setup yet and this screen will appear blank.
- Press the “…” menu and select, “Settings.”

- The Edit / Add Gateway screen will come up.

- Enter the following for Gateway depending upon your location:
Houston: rdgateway.hilcorp.com
New Mexico: nmrdgateway.hilcorp.com
Alaska: akrdgateway.hilcorp.com
For User Account, Select “Use PC User Account.”
A friendly name is optional but can be rdgateway, nmrdgateway or akrdgateway
Select, “Save.”
- Go Back to main PCs screen by selecting “<” several times.

- Select the “+” Plus button to add a new PC.
- Select, “Add PC” when prompted.

- Enter the information for your new Remote Desktop PC connection as shown below.
For PC Name, enter the following based upon your location:
Houston: rd.hilcorp.com
New Mexico: nmrd.hilcorp.com
Alaska: akrd.hilcorp.com
For User Account, enter your account in the following format:
zedmundson@hilcorp.com
For Gateway, select the gateway you entered in a previous step.
Select, “Save”
- Your new Remote Desktop PC will show up on your phone in the list of PCs.

- Click on the Remote Desktop PC you just created. You should get a “Connecting” message.

- Your Microsoft Authenticator App will ask you to approve the Sign-in. Select “Approve.” The authenticator app may ask you to put in your password or use your face to unlock.

- Go back to the Remote Desktop App. This step is rather odd and confusing because you actually switch apps to remote in. Make sure that you are back in the Remote Desktop App. Now is a good time to turn your phone sideways if you like.

- You may be asked for your Hilcorp password. Enter this now.

- Wait for your remote desktop session to start.

- After a minute you should be logged in.

- Be sure to “Log Out” when finished using Remote Desktop. This will ensure that you do not have any documents open and conserve resources.

If you are not able to log on consider setting up your Multifactor Authentication again. Make sure you use the Microsoft Authenticator and not another authenticator app. I myself had this exact problem which prevented me from logging in.
