New HMC Tenant - How to Setup MFA (Microsoft Authenticator)
1. To set up MFA on the new HMC tenant, first open your browser and open Incognito Mode by pressing Ctrl + Shift + N, or by opening the three dots menu in the top right of the window and selecting New Incognito Window.
This is to prevent sign-in data from the Hilcorp network interfering with the login process on the new network.
2. To log into your account, navigate to myaccount.microsoft.com and login to your hmc.us account.
3. In the left-hand menu, click on Security Info.
4. Click Add sign-in method. In the Choose a method dropdown menu, select Authenticator App.
5. In the new menu, click Next, indicating that you have downloaded the Microsoft Authenticator app.
6. Now, open the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone. Skip through the introductory screens if present, until you see an Add a Work or School Account option.
If prompted for any permissions such as push notifications or camera access, choose to Allow. On your work computer, click Next, and a QR code should appear.
7. The app should now open your phone camera. Use it to scan the QR code on your computer screen. Once you've scanned the code, click Next.
8. You'll now confirm that the app is working properly. The app will prompt you with a notification, or request a code that's now presented on your computer. Afterwards, click Next on your computer.
9. Finally, you should receive a "Success!" Message. Click Done.
